While reading Manly P. Halls book, The Secret Teachings of All Ages (1928), I came across the following quote from the preface:

For once, a book which really lives up to its title. Hall self-published this massive tome in 1928, consisting of about 200 legal-sized pages in 8 point type; it is literally his magnum opus. Each of the nearly 50 chapters is so dense with information that it is the equivalent of an entire short book. If you read this book in its entirety you will be in a good position to dive into subjects such as the Qabbala, Alchemy, Tarot, Ceremonial Magic, Neo-Platonic Philosophy, Mystery Religions, and the theory of Rosicrucianism and Freemasonry. Although there are some questionable and controversial parts of the book, such as the outdated material on Islam, the portion on the Bacon-Shakespeare hypothesis, and Hall’s conspiracy theory of history as driven by an elite cabal of roving immortals, they are far out-weighed by the comprehensive information here on other subjects.

Of particular interest is the following sub-quote, “Hall’s conspiracy theory of history as driven by an elite cabal of roving immortals.” At first I was taken back; did I just read what I think I read? After several days of reflecting on the topic, I decided to investigate this claim further.

The truth is, I personally believe there are Immortals roaming this earth; but the question remains, is there a central authority of Immortals, or are they simply a group of Immortals working independent of each other.

The term Cabal can be defined as, “engaged in plotting or enter into a conspiracy, swear together.” There are also several more sinister definitions, like, “a plot to carry out some harmful or illegal act,” and “a clique (often secret) that seeks power usually through intrigue.” Nevertheless, I do not believe there is an Immortal Cabal that is intended to do anything harmful to the mortal population; let me explain further.

According to Robert Coon, Immortals work independent of each other. Each immortal has found an independent path to helping humanity and this planet. One cannot gain an Immortal state of existence except by goodness. Therefore, any idea that there is a group of Immortals, a Cabal if you will, coordinating to control anything is simply unbelievable.

You see, Immortality is only granted to the individual who has demonstrated spiritual and physical purity; or as I like to say, goodness.

As Robert Coon mentioned in his book, The Path of the Phoenix (2009), “Immortals are your brothers and sisters. They have no interest in either being persecuted or idolized! The promise is always: we shall recognize the Immortals when we are as they – equals in our Passions for, and Masteries of, the Divine” (p. 183)!

You see, Immortals are nonconformist, they cannot even agree on one single formula for Immortality; so how could anyone even think they could agree on ruling this planet. In fact, the concept of controlling another person or a people is contrary to the laws of Immortality. Coon continued,

It is wrong to attempt to impose a universal condition on everyone that limits possibilities. There are an infinite number of valid pathways – all of which lead to the same place. Immortals enjoy life immensely. For some, that enjoyment may involve listening to heavy metal music, or drinking a beer. Individually, we each have to make decisions about which experiences enhance the quality of our lives. There is no doubt whatsoever, that for some of us watching T.V., drinking single malt whiskies, or listening to loud, energetic music does create life and happiness… Immortals are anarchists, in the most pure and friendly sense of that word… We profane another person’s purpose in life when we attempt to impose our own prejudices, fears, and weaknesses upon them. We do not have a legal right to tell another person what their purpose is (p. 193-194).

As such, there is no Immortal Cabal, despite the fact some people believe it and even write about it. Nevertheless, the most fascinating part of the above quote, “Hall’s conspiracy theory of history as driven by an elite cabal of roving immortals” is the fact that we now have independent confirmation that Manly, P. Hall was a devotee and teacher of Immortalism,

The Light and the fire which rise are the divine man, ascending in the path of the Word, and that which fails to ascend is the mortal man, which may not partake of immortality. Learn deeply of the Mind and its mystery, for therein lies the secret of immortality (Manly P. Hall, The Secret Teachings of the Ages, 1928, p. 39).
